What is Walking with Mary?
It’s a quiet daily companion for the forty weeks of pregnancy. Each morning you meet a saint, see how your baby is growing, walk a step alongside Our Lady’s own journey to Bethlehem, and have a place to keep prayer intentions and a novena going. It’s meant to feel like a small devotional — not another app full of notifications.
How much does it cost?
Walking with Mary is a one-time purchase of $7.99 on the App Store and Google Play. There are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, and no ads — ever. Pay once, keep it for as long as you have the device.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no email, no password. You open the app, enter your due date (or last menstrual period), and that’s it. Everything lives on your device.
Does it work offline?
Yes — fully. The liturgical calendar, saint profiles, week-by-week pregnancy content, and all prayer texts are bundled inside the app. You can use it on a plane, in adoration, or in a hospital room with no signal.
What if I don’t know my exact due date?
You can enter either your estimated due date or the first day of your last menstrual period — the app will compute the rest. You can adjust it later in your profile if your doctor revises the date after an ultrasound.
Which liturgical calendar does it use?
Both. You can choose between the General Roman Calendar (the post-1969 Novus Ordo calendar) and the 1962 calendar used in the traditional Latin Mass. The Saint of the Day, feasts, and rankings adjust to match the calendar you select. You can switch between them at any time in settings.
Can I use it if I’m not Catholic?
Of course. The app is unmistakably Catholic in its content — saints, novenas; but anyone is welcome to use it. Many of the week-by-week reflections speak to any expectant mother, and curiosity is always welcome.
Is the medical content reviewed by a doctor?
The week-by-week development notes describe roughly what is happening with your baby at each stage, drawn from common pregnancy references. The app is not medical advice and is no substitute for your OB, midwife, or doctor. If something feels wrong, call your provider.
What about miscarriage or loss?
We hold this gently. The app does not currently include a dedicated mourning mode, but it does include patrons for grief and for the souls of unbaptized children, and the prayer journal is yours to use however you need. If you have lost a child, you are in our prayers.
What notifications will I get?
Only what you opt into. By default the app schedules one gentle morning reminder, a weekly patron-saint alert, and any novena reminders you set up yourself. All notifications are generated on your device — nothing is pushed from a server. You can turn any of them off in settings.
Can I keep using it after the baby is born?
Yes — that’s what Companion Mode is for. Switch it on in your profile (or choose it during setup) and the app becomes a quiet liturgical companion: the Saint of the Day, the full liturgical calendar week by week, novenas, and your prayer journal — without the pregnancy-tracking screens. It’s there for the postpartum season, for a mother supporting a friend who is expecting, or for anyone who simply wants the devotional life of the app without a due date attached.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone (iOS 15.1 and later) and Android (Android 7.0 and later). The same app, the same content, on both. There is also a fully interactive demo of the entire app right here on the website.
What about my privacy?
The short version: no accounts, no analytics, no ads, no network calls. Your data stays on your device. The long version is in our privacy policy.
