Privacy Policy

The short version

Walking with Mary is a fully offline mobile app. It does not connect to any server, does not create user accounts, and does not transmit any information off your device. The app stores a small amount of data locally on your device only, and that data stays there.

Data stored on your device

The app stores the following data locally using your device’s own storage. None of it is ever transmitted to us or to any third party.

• Your first name (entered during onboarding, optional)
• Your last menstrual period date or estimated due date
• Prayer intentions you add to the prayer journal
• Novena progress and reminder settings
• App preferences such as theme (light / dark / system)
• Notification scheduling identifiers managed by your OS

This data is not backed up to any cloud service by the app itself. Your device’s own system backup (iCloud on iOS, Google Backup on Android) may include app data as part of a full device backup — that is governed by Apple’s and Google’s respective privacy policies, not ours.

What we do not collect

• We do not collect analytics or usage data of any kind.
• We do not serve ads or use any advertising networks.
• We do not create or store user accounts.
• We do not use crash-reporting SDKs that phone home.
• We do not share any data with third parties — because we collect none.
• We do not track your activity across other apps or websites.

Notifications

If you grant notification permission, the app schedules daily morning reminders, a weekly patron saint alert, and optional novena reminders. These are local notifications — they are generated and delivered entirely on your device by the operating system and are never routed through any external server or push-notification service.

No push token, device identifier, or notification content is transmitted to us or to any third party as part of the notification feature.

Network access

The app makes no network requests at runtime. All content — the Church calendar, saint profiles, pregnancy week data, and prayer texts — is bundled inside the app and available fully offline from first launch.

Open-source software

The app is built with open-source frameworks including Expo and React Native. These frameworks do not collect personal data as used here.

The app also includes the following third-party components:

• pregnant_woman icon — Google Material Symbols, Copyright Google LLC, licensed under the Apache License 2.0.

The liturgical calendar data bundled in the app was generated at build time using calendarium-romanum (MIT / LGPL-3.0, by igneus) and validated in part with romcal (MIT, Copyright 2018 Julian Pereira). Neither library is bundled in the distributed app; they are used only during development to produce the static calendar files.

Children and families

The app is designed for expectant mothers and their families. It is suitable for all ages. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Deleting your data

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by uninstalling the app. There is no account to close and no server-side data to request deletion of.

Changes to this policy

If the app’s data practices change (for example, if a future version adds optional cloud backup), this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the “last updated” date at the top will change. We will not retroactively collect data without notice.
